Who I Am
About Me
I'm Essence Unique Callie Haygood from Kansas City, Kansas. As the family stylist growing up, I've always had a knack for hair. In 2019, I turned my casual braiding into a side hustle and soon fell in love with it so much that I decided to pursue it full-time.
Fun Facts
Outside of braiding, I enjoy painting, watching sports, and spending quality time with my family. An avid anime fan, I express my unique style through my collection of rings, wearing eight every day.
Years of Experience
I've been braiding professionally for two years and taking clients for five years. My journey began with a love for braiding that turned into a professional pursuit during my maternity leave in 2021, when I realized the potential it had to change my life and that of my son.
Training & Education
I took a specialized braiding and loc class in 2019 and got certified in hand-tied extensions in 2023. I'm also planning to expand my skills by attending cosmetology school in the future.

I work at Essence of Love Braiding with a schedule from Sunday to Wednesday, focusing on VIP appointments on my off days. I prioritize online bookings through my website, enhancing accessibility and efficiency for my clients.
Why Barbering?
During maternity leave, I realized I could earn more braiding in a week than I did at my previous job. This revelation, coupled with my growing love for the art of braids, steered me towards making braiding my full-time career.

What I love most about braiding is the joy it brings my clients. Seeing their smiles after I finish their hair is the ultimate confirmation that I am excelling in my craft and impacting lives positively. My inspiration comes from De’arra Taylor. Although she's not in the hair industry, her business acumen with her sunglass line and her presence on YouTube inspire me to strive for excellence and independence in my own career.
