About Me

Who I Am

About Me

My name is Aunye' McFeders, aka Ye' Ye'. I am originally from Kansas City, Kansas, Wyandotte County, born and raised. My grandmother and aunties do hair, all have their cosmetology licenses and have owned their own hair salons. My sisters and I would always get our hair done in fancy styles growing up. As we got older, we started getting into braids. They didn't do much braiding, so my mom had to find and pay someone to braid three heads, which got expensive. I loved getting my hair braided, so I thought, why not teach myself to braid my own hair so that my mom doesn't have to pay all that money but also so that I can do not only my sisters' and my hair but other people's hair too!

Fun Facts

I love to write, draw, listen to music, and sit outside to enjoy God's creation. My son's birthday is 3 days apart from mine!

Years of Experience

I've been braiding hair professionally for 2 years. I started out of my home and ran my own business for 4 years, took a break, and now that I am here with the Chop Shop family, it will be three more months added to that 6-year mark.

Training & Education

I attended KCKCC Technical Education Center for the cosmetology trade; however, I only attended for one semester.

More Info

My professional aspirations include transitioning to the business side of hairdressing, selling hair and products. I'm available Monday to Saturday from 7:00 AM to 9:30 PM. Clients can book appointments via my booking site or by contacting me directly.

Why Barbering?

My love for braids on myself made me want to get into braiding for others. I love how they look and became fascinated with how it's done, so I taught myself, and now I am able to not just do my own hair but others as well.

Work & INspiration

I love being able to make my clients feel and look good through my work. I love making my space comfortable for them to talk and relax. I also love the way braids have changed over time yet still have the traditional touch. People come up with different ways to style and braid hair, and it's like the ideas never run out. The most challenging part about my work is trying to execute a style for the first time, while the most rewarding part is getting better each time I braid. Seeing that I am able to do a style that seems challenging upfront is very rewarding and pushes me to keep going. I didn't have a specific person until I met Chop. His drive to not only run this business but also help out in the community wherever he can is very inspiring, and I absolutely admire it. Chop naturally cares for people, and that's what it's about. Running a business isn't just about the money that comes in; it's about the people we can help, even if it is simply making them feel and look good by the services we provide. I take time to study what's trending on Instagram and YouTube. YouTube has become my best friend when it comes to tutorials and how-tos. I see what's trending on Instagram, and I study it on YouTube until I feel ready to do said style.

Have Some Questions?

FAQs

How would you describe your barbering style? (E.g., traditional, modern, creative, etc.)

My braiding style is traditional in the sense of keeping the original intention of braids while keeping up with what's trending and using my creativity to do so.

Do you have any specialties or favorite types of cuts/styles (e.g., fades, classic cuts, beard grooming)?

My favorite types of braids to do are knotless! I love how flat and neat they are. Doing knotless is therapeutic to me, especially as the hairstyle unfolds to the final result.

Do you offer any signature services or techniques that set you apart?

As of now, I don't have any signature services, but I would love to in the near future.

What’s your philosophy when it comes to barbering and client service?

Customer service is just as important as having a safe and comfortable environment!
